About Penrose Social and Applied Research Hub
Penrose is an independent Hub focused on high-quality academic research, specializing in peer-reviewed scientific journals with open-access, based in the United States. It emerges to meet the demand for agile, diverse, cost-effective scientific research, adhering to global principles of open science.
In the vast North American research market, scholars face significant barriers to disseminating their findings. Prolonged wait times and exorbitant publishing fees imposed by major publishers limit accessibility, while a prevailing focus on English-language publications excludes minority communities, such as Spanish-speaking populations in the United States or French-speaking communities in Canada.
That context presents a significant window of opportunity for our organization. By filling this gap, we can establish ourselves as leaders in inclusive and accessible academic publishing, driving positive change and expanding our influence in the industry.
Reliability and Quality Standards
All publications from Penrose Social and Applied Research Hub are fully open-access, meaning there are no charges for access or reading. Furthermore, each publication strictly adheres to international standards of high-quality publishing, following guidelines such as COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and Elsevier's Ethics Toolkit. With a commitment to accessibility and integrity, we ensure that our research remains accessible to all while upholding the highest standards of scholarly excellence.
Current Services and Future Endeavors
Journals: We are currently developing our ecosystem of publications, with three scientific journals in our portfolio (one fully edited and conceptualized by our Hub, and two in partnership with other international institutions). By the end of the first semester of 2024, we aim to expand our offerings to include six open-access scientific journals covering various fields of knowledge.
E-books: We are developing the POAR Library: Penrose Open-Access Repository, which will curate digital scientific books in e-book format. This initiative aims to meet the demand from North American academics and others worldwide who seek to publish their research in books registered in the United States.
Applied scientific and market research services: Currently conceptualizing a portfolio of research services to execute projects for both the scientific-academic sector and small firms and organizations. Our goal is to deliver data-driven research reports that can benefit individuals, research communities, and private sector entrepreneurs.
Customized training and education: One of our medium-term projects involves launching a virtual academy offering technical training in scientific research, academic publishing, and data analysis for research purposes. This initiative aims to cater to both individual stakeholders and institutions seeking to enhance their capabilities in these areas.
